School Lunches – May 6

Thanks for the great response on these posts!  I hope that if people can see what school lunches actually look like for a whole month, we can start to bring change.  Starting tomorrow I’ll be posting letters from my students asking Jamie Oliver for help bringing change to school lunches.

Breakfast today was a blueberry muffin…

And lunch was again the hamburgers…

julie – seriously this is great what you are doing. it’s people like you that can really make jamie’s mission a reality!! i would love to get involved. any ideas?

    • I would love to have people get involved in this and right now I’m trying to brainstorm ideas for what we can do. I think that we first need to raise awareness and let people know what the reality of the situation is and then we need to think of ways to make change. I am definitely open to any, and all, ideas!

Pictures really can speak a thousand words. That sad, sad hamburger really shows what kids these days are faced with. I love Jamie’s show and I love to watch him succeed in this quest to get healthy. Good luck!

I live outside Philly; have friends that work in the public school system and have a daughter in 4th grade. It makes me SO sad what is offered to the kids. I hope we can all bring forth change!!

  4. Thank you for the visual reminders of why the Healthy School Meals Act of 2010, H.R. 4870 needs to be passed!
